Just bought the sigma 100-300 f4

lets hope it turns out as good as it looks.

(dont get it till saturday or sunday)

Me too! I 've just picked up an 'as new' copy (new - returned by purchaser, sent back to Sigma for something to be fixed - full warrenty) for £450 - arrived yesterday. The UK list price is around £750, so I'm a happy bunny! I've been patiently waiting for the 60-250mm, which I know will be weather sealed, likely smaller and lighter (the Sigma is a beast!), and HSM would be good on such a heavy lens, but for the price the Sigma was too good to miss. Its also made me dig out the monopod...

Patience, patience. If the sun shines this week-end and I develop the muscles in my right arm to pick the thing up then who knows!

Here is a sample and some 100% crops, if I did it right. Nothing special, no sunshine here either.

Even wide open with cloudy sky in the background, there is no purple fringing at all.

K200D SR on 300mm f4 1/250 second Center crop: Edge crop: Even wide open with cloudy sky in the background, there is no purple fringing at all.
