Hello --

I purchased a DA 70/2.4 Limited recently and want to use a 3rd party lens cap (pinch or slip-on, etc). I know the filter size is 49mm and I could use a 49mm lens cap w/o the hood, but I want a cap that will fit on the end of the screw-on lens hood that comes with the DA 70. I do not want to lose the original metal slide-on cap so prefer a after-market. Can anyone provide info or point me to a cap that will attach to the hood end?

Thanks!!

the hood is around 42mm on the inside - so maybe this one will work : Genuine Kodak Front Lens Caps for Digital Cameras Approx 42mm Black | eBay
or a body cap for m42 camera

The End of the Hood fits a standard 52mm lens cap. That's what I use.

Hmmmm. 52mm pinch-cap won't work, but it looks like a 54mm slip-on cap with a 52mm inside diameter may very well work. Thanks!!!

Strange. I've tried 2 52mm pinch-type lens caps and neither will fit (too large). Even tried a 49mm, and it was too large to fit. I wonder if Pentax has re-designed the hood and ours are not alike.

That is possible. The front of my hood measures Ø54mm Outside and approx. Ø51.6mm Inside the felt.
The Part Number on my hood is: MH-RA 49mm

Humm, I guess there are different versions then - mine says MH - RD 49mm and is definately 42mm inside / 49mm outside

And on Adorama site the part number is listed as MH-RF49 ... so I guess there are at least 3 versions out there?

Hey thanks guys - I just learnt something new here. My lens which I purchased used from B&H appears to have been provided with a different hood. The Hood I have is for the FA 43mm f/1.9 lens. Looking on the RICOH site the part No. for DA 70 hood is in fact: MH-RF 49

MH-RF 49mm Silver Lens Hood for HD DA 70mm F2.4 - RICOH IMAGING UK LTD.

It looks like I might getting myself a new hood (& 43mm pinch cap). Sorry for the mis-information earlier.

Just wanted to report back that a 43mm Pinch-type lens cap was exactly what was needed for the DA70 limited lens hood end.

Thanks!!!
