Hi AML see you like this forum it seems like a nice place. And it seems everyone likes the 55-300mm, at least most. And nice pics. But the reason I write is I have always liked the "K10 proud owner" where did you get yours "Samsung GX10 proud Owner"? and how do you feel if I use it? I really like it.

The hunting probably stopped because of the bright light and contrasty shots.

Low light is always an issue especially at f/5.6.

Did u use the 1.4xTC as u had mentioned at the beginning?

I need to know the performance of DA55-300 with a 1.4x TC and a 2x TC..in terms of Autofocus (I am an uncurable optimist!) and IQ..

Also, which is the optimum aperture to be used with either of the TCs?

I dont mind smaller apertures as I'll use flash.. So if the IQ is retained with a 2x TC, i'll sell off my beloved k300/4 for it..I have never had an experience with an AUtofocus lens at 300mm..for some reason I wonder it is going to be good..

I did try the 1.4x TC. Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but in reality the lens is too slow with a TC, it's very slow going from close to infinity focus and mine hunted quite badly. When i did get a couple of lucky shots (which i can't seem to find now), the IQ was very good with the 1.4x, can't comment on the 2x though.
From my own personal experience with the 55 -300 i wouldn't buy this lens just for the intention on using a TC with it, you'll end up sorely disappointed, imo.
