Case for 16-85

Since my new 16-85 didn't come with a case, I'd like to get one. Can anybody make any recommendations?

TIA

The 90-140 fits it if you are wanting the Pentax case. I bought a used one here on the Marketplace.

OP/TECH USA Lens/Filter Pouch

Best design for a pouch I've seen. The bottom has more padding because it's also a place to store two filters. I believe the medium fits the 16-85 well, I'd have to check to be sure, it's been a while since I bought it.

Cases

You can use a Pentax S90-140 or S90-160 Soft Lens Case. Your lens will fit on both of them. You can try other s brands as well ( s90-160 | B&H Photo Video or Lens Cases | B&H Photo Video )

I checked the dimensions of both the pouch and the lens and I'm thinking you're right in that the medium size would work the best for the 16-85. With that, I'll be ordering it.

Odd, that Pentax would market this rather pricey lens without the courtesy of a simple pouch!

It is odd that it wouldn't come with a case. In the past, I bought less expensive Pentax lenses that have come with the pouches. The really sad part is that if I want a Pentax-branded pouch, then I would have to shell out $45-50. No thanks.

While I have a lot of cases for my lenses, actually about half of 56 I own have cases, branded specifically for the lens there is only one lens which I have that the case is used regularly, my tamron 200-500/5.6!

All the rest, such as my K300/4, Sigma 70-200/2.8, vivitar 400/5.6, vivitar Series 1 70-210/3.5 etc.....just sit in a cupboard occupying useful space

Although some consider it "cheap" I prefer the option of purchasing it separately.

Aside from the idea that I don't think manufacturers should force unnecessary things on us that we don't all need, in what really is a cash grab by the manufacturer, it is , given today's social and political environment, really a waste of resources.

Therefore , for me, those who want a case fine, buy one, but for those who don't , we shouldn't be made to take one just because....

For the record, the only "original" pouch I sometimes use is the one for the 60-250. When using a backpack and insert as a camera bag, the lens won't get into my insert, so I have to use the pouch. Otherwise, I find OEM pouches to be poorly designed to actually use in the field. A pouch like the Op-Tech at least lets you attach it to a belt...
