What does "UC" mean for Sigma Lenses?

I found a local guy selling a 100-300 UC lens.

What does "UC" mean?
Thanks.

Ultra Compact. So essentially means nothing -- I think they trying to turn the fact that it is a slow consumer zoom into a selling point since one advantage they have over high-end fast lenses is that they are smaller and lighter.

Ultra Compact Zoom Lens just became my favorite oxymoron.

Some on the on the internet say that UC stands for Utter Crap.
I don't agree though. I have shots taken with my UC 28-70 f3.5 - f4.5 that I'm pretty happy with (like this https://www.flickr.com/photos/kiwi_jono/4608743388/in/dateposted-public/ ).
The lens is pretty light but I would not call it compact.
