I dont mind manual focus and I'm trying to use it more. I cant find the focus adjust on my K3, i sware on of my old bodies let me adjust the focus depth. I'll get the red square and have camera set to "catch-in-focus" but i get sharper results when i ignore the focus indicator and go buy how it looks in the viewfinder. On my 50 anyway, my other lenses are bright enough and i have to trust the autofocus.

Is the 10mm rectilinear?

Samyang just keeps popping out these fast primes, I'm thinking of starting my own collection.

First would probably be the 85 F1.4m then maybe the 16 F2 or a 14mm

Anyone have a handful of samyangs?

Why bother with Samyang when you can get used Takumars on eBay for cheap...

The auto aperature is nice, I like Takumars and thought about collecting those too. Someone local has been trying to sell an 8-element 50 F1.4 for a couple months now. And there aren't any wide angles and most of them are slower than the samyangs

Yes, the 10mm is rectilinear (although with a fair amount of distortion).

I own the 10mm and the 7.5mm (for MFT). They are very nice lenses, especially considering the price. But they're not quite as good as my Pentax glass.

finally got my 85mm F1.4 lol

so far it seems to be built very well. focus ring is a little firm and i dont care for the 5 foot or so minimum focusing. We'll have to try some kid portraits when i get home

Ha I think those are the two most common complaints about that lens! The third one is that it is difficult to focus when shooting at f1.4, at least with the stock focusing screen. But I've seen stunning shots with that lens, so its manageable

I was actually looking for an 85 mm f2 M lens for a while. I didn't need f1.4 or Pentax * quality (and price), but they all ended up either more expensive than the Samyang 85 mm f1.4 or with "the fungus, hazing, and element separation don't seem to be affecting the photos, but I'm selling it as-is" caveat.

I finally caved and bought the Rokinon 85mm, and it's great. Having the auto aperture is really nice. I, too have "old guy eyes", but the rear screen highlights seem to work pretty well even wide open.

The viewfinder focus confirmation is less accurate but works well enough at about f2.8 close in.

its been pretty nice. Its very sharp. I post processed those, most of which i had to adjust WB, the were all too cool, by a good bit. I gotta see if i had auto on or if i had it set to manual something. I use manual for my fish tank often.

Other than that i just need to get used to the super shallow depth. Even at F2.2/2.8 i had a heck of a time focusing where i wanted
