Still I tend to think the same as savoche: the 31 value doesn't lie in landscapes/scenes... But that's what I'am likely to do with such focal length.
I, agree...last weekend i was at a wedding reception and the 31mm was on my camera almost the whole night. Even wide open, i was at ISO 6400 and a lot were taken at 12800. The f2.8 max aperture of the DA 35mm would not have worked out nearly as well with the real dark scenes.
However, with it's small size and macro capabilities, the DA35mm is the perfect outdoor lens.

I do wonder if a flash could not be used at a wedding? Last time I did one, I used my flash on the left hand with a softbox and the body on the right hand and got interresting results !

Definitely a flash wouldve helped. But the wedding was in a different country so i had to travel light. If i was paid to do this, i would've brought one.

Absolutely nuts. I would never sell my 35mm macro unless every K-mount body went before it. It's my second most-used lens (after the 10-17mm fisheye - don't ask!), and although it took a few months for it to get under my skin, it's been a "must-have" in my bag for the past 4 or 5 years. I even use it on my Samsung NX body via adapter!

BTW, I had the full collectors set of FA Ltd's (all silver, all MIJ, all early #'s) and sold them in one lump because I rarely used them and frankly only the 43 was any inspiration.

If you don't need quite that close-up detail, the DA 40/2.8 Limited is pretty close-focusing. I took mine out for a spin this afternoon, first time in quite a while, and the results were surprisingly pleasant. Any thought of this lens going out the door has now vanished - it's my secret AF backup lens when I've filled the bag with Takumar primes and want some insurance.
