Defishing to a planar (rectilinear) projection, especially with something really wide, like the Samyang 8mm FE, will stretch the corners in an extremely unnatural and to my mind unpleasant way. Unless that is what you are after, or if you are trying to keep architectural lines straight, the Panini projection is much better.

Thanks everybody. It seems I'll be holding out for a good wide angle instead of a cheaper fisheye. Thanks!

Agreed. Sometimes a mild fisheye looks a lot more natural than an extreme rectilinear.

Personally, I prefer a defished fisheye shot using the method Paul posted to a rectilinear, with or without distortion correction. It's fiddly to mess with and I wish the guys who make fisheye hemi would let you just select your preferred axis and draw a line for the horizon or whatever instead of having to mess with adding space to the canvas and stuff, but the corrected shots don't look anywhere near as distorted on the edges as rectilinear, and you get a lot more width. The 8mm samyang pretty much covers wide angle as far as it's possible to cover it. I usually end up cropping as much as 20% off of my Sigma 10-20 shots (at 10mm) because the distortion at the sides is so much (unless that's what I'm using it for).

And Lightroom just doesn't do a good job defishing.
