Some great shots from Italy, subsea. The 16-85mm is a great multipurpose walkabout lens, isn't it?
Thanks. I took 2 lenses with me – the 16-85mm and my 55-300mm PLM (along with a 1.4X teleconverter). I found that the 16-85mm almost never left my K-3III. As you said, it's a great multipurpose lens, and when combined with the K-3III, it allowed me to get probably 95% of the shots that I wanted, whether I was indoors or outdoors.

The "C. Stucky" flour mill (one of the largest ever made) in Venice. Recently converted into a Hilton Hotel (20230602). K-3III and HD DA 16-85mm.

Some excellent shots of Venice. I expect to be back there in a month or and I'm looking forward to it. The first time around I used my Sigma 17-50/2.8 for most of the shots and it did well though I wish I'd had the 16-85mm at the time.

Thanks. This was our 3rd trip to Venice. So far, we've been there over the Christmas holiday season, in mid-summer and, now, springtime. Each time of year offers unique photography opportunities, but I've found that, for me, the wide-to-normal focal length range is consistently my number one choice, and the HD DA 16-85mm lens is my favorite lens for this city. Venice has become my favorite city to visit!

Took the 16-85 to a Renaissance festival. Caught this shot which I think displays this lens' strengths: Nice and sharp, great color, decent bokeh for a zoom. If I'm taking photos while doing stuff, this lens is usually on the camera.

Just Leaves

It is almost too embarrassing to post this with the basic settings revealed!! I made no attempt to decide appropriate aperture, shutter, and ISO settings whatsover - just put the lens on, turned on the camera, and clicked. As I had last used the camera for birding, and left it on User1, I got my basic hand-held monster zoom (150-450mm) default settings!
