Yes. The Crowns were featured as Ross Poldark's Wheal Leisure mine. The nearby Levant mine (which still houses the original 1840's beam engine in working order) was featured as Tressiders Rolling Mill.

Well it came, but the weather turned gray with mist and blowing fog. Even so I am impressed with the sharpness and color so far. No attempt at art here, just trying out the lens. Click on pics for exifs.

Start of a race at my marina. Wind 20+ knots, mist, scudding gray, no sun. The arm is about 600 meters across here. The windows across the arm are stunningly sharp compared to my Sigma in full res to my eyes.

Signal Hill--a popular tourist destination here was a bit sunnier, but not much. Just some cloud openings.

Fort Amherst across the harbor entryway...The rock formations really pop out of the pic at full res. Tremendous sharpness compared to other lenses.

Signal Hill Tower at 16mm. There was a bit of sun breaking through here.

At first glance this lens seems worth every penny even for quite gray conditions. I shot generally full or near full open where I would stop down with my Sigma 17-50 (assuming I'd take it out in the mist in the first place). I look forward to trying the 16-85 out in conditions with more light, color and contrast. xposted to 16-85 is coming thread.

" Beauty and Danger "

[ the light and shadow makes me think that ]

the newest Sumatran Tiger at the Topeka Zoo and Conversation Center

- the 6 year old male - Sanjiv - “long life,”

He arrived August 8 from the Akron Ohio zoo.

he and the 7 year old female - Jingga - are being kept separately for the immediate future - " The process is expected to take six to 12 months "

in the wild, they would come together for one purpose only

the last time the female successfully mated, three female cubs (recently transferred to another zoo ) were produced in May 2014 . It was great news for the attempts to preserve the species

About 400 Sumatran tigers are left in the wild

K 3 + HD PENTAX-DA 16-85mm F3.5-5.6 ED DC WR

I'm quite happy with the landscapes this lens is delivering. My results with my copy of the Sigma 17-50 f2.8 look much like this board software reduced copy. The full res version of this picture has a lot more "pop" and clarity.

Cuckold Cove and Cuckold Head (note the ram's head shape to the land formation--I suspect sex starved sailors certainly did a couple of centuries ago!) Note the East Coast Trail going off to the left in the distance. Great climb there!
