Originally posted by RICHARD L. Love Quebec City...so beautiful there. Once, about 25 years ago I was there to do final negotiations and to sign off for our province on a national professional licensing agreement for psychologists (under the original AIT). One of the other delegates--in addition to being a psych--was also a campanologist from England originally before he immigrated to Canada. Anyway, he got us into the old Anglican cathedral through his rather obscure/esoteric campanology community connections to ring the bells to celebrate!
Didn't have a camera with while climbing up the steeple, but some of the stair runs near the top were made of de-barked logs with adze-cut (NOT sawn) notches to mount the treads and risers! Lots of old blacksmith nails in evidence. I don't think any of that's present day code! And some of the graffiti on the walls went back to the just before the Napoleanic wars era.
Don't know about the condition now this quarter century later, but if it can be entered these days, there's definitely some great shooting in there and/or up there.
Quebec may be almost as stunning and nearly as pretty as Newfoundland when on the land doing landscapes! :-) (Of course there are no more stunning seascapes anywhere in the world as here...but that's just how it is!) OTOH your more urban stuff shows how much more architectural history is over your way. Especially in the Ancien Ville area of the city which you apparently like to explore as well.
And the food beats Montreal all to hell.
