Less than $100 might be tough unless you go with legacy lenses, but if you want something that's an amazing value and a solid performer, check out this Rokinon 85mm lens:

Rokinon 85mm f/1.4 Aspherical Lens for Pentax 85M-P B&H Photo

Vivitar 85mm F1.4 Review - Review | PentaxForums.com Reviews

It's really hard to beat the performance of this lens, even if you get the most expensive K-mount AF 85mm lens money can buy.

A quality prime for less than $100 that isn't a 28/35/50/135? My sides are hurting I'm laughing so hard.

Hey now boris. All you have to do is look and you shall find. Adam I am totally cool with Legacy glass. I prefer it over AF lenses because they seem nicer in build and optics personally. The rokinon looks nice especially with the f1.4 but I must save up to get that one unless their is some legacy stuff out there I don't know about. Thanks

Boris is talking legacy, good luck, occasionally somebody finds such a fantastic deal.

How about a Jupiter 9? M42 fitting and not without its quirks, but a well-regarded lens...

Maybe a 50mm and a 1.4x TC? I see manual focus 50mm's all the time for well under $50 and the better 1.4x-A style TC might be as low as $50. It's not a conventional solution, but it may be one of the best options to stay under $100 for that focal length. Alternately what about a 135mm Takumar Bayonet f/2.5 - those can be had for well below $100 and while longer than your stated length they can be used for portrait work (albeit at a long working distance) Shameless self promotion - I have a Takumar Bayonet for sale. PM me if interested.

I have the Takumar Bayonet, and it is a drastically underrated lens although I find it just a bit to far of a reach for portrait stuff. Maybe thats just me. I wanted something with just a little more punch than my fifty prime.

This is as close as you're likely to get unless you really strike lucky:

The Jupiter 9 is a nice lens. I used an LTM one on my RF. Mine was coated, it had the red "N". In every category it did well except it had relatively low contrast from veiling flare with the iris closed down. The finish of the ap blades wore off as the blades moved back and forth. If I took apart the lens and "colored" the blades with a sharpie, then the contrast significantly improved for 20-30 shots until the sharpie ink wore off the blades again.

I bought a Canon Seranar 85/1.8 and never looked back.

What about a good 1.4 TC to add to it? That might fit the budget better.

I'll put out the word to my camera shop that I'm looking for the Mitakon so they can try and find one for me. Great guys down at Best Photo. Teleconverters and I don't have a good working relationship. The last time I used my Rokunar one on my M50mm 1.7 the image suffered greatly, and then when I used the two element Vivtar it just seemed bland but still sharp. I prefer it to just be in one lens.

That's fair. But to be completely fair the type I meant would be a very high quality 1.4x not a low quality 2x. They can be had for manual focus for under 100 and the IQ is unlikley to suffer. DOF on the other hand will be not as good perhaps unless you start with the 50 1.4 or so.

Oh. I may look into one of those then. When I see teleconverter I immediately think the worst. Plus prime lenses give me a reason to buy lenses. I need every focal length ever made. lol
