FF release, bye bye 16-50 da. Hopefully for sale by the end of the year

When the FF comes out I will be selling my da 16-50. It's a true weapon that has given me awesome results but unfortunately when the FF comes out I can't deal with the cropping so I will have to sell her. I purchased her new 5 years ago from Canada and since then she has recently been repaired in he UK from a jammed zoom which is spot on now. She's in perfect condition. Anyone have an idea what would be a reasonable price to sell her and would anyone be interested?

I would check prices on the Marketplace or *bay to have a better idea.

If you check ebay use the option to see SOLD items not just listed ones. That gives a more realistic picture.

With new ones selling for $799 (US), I'd put a well-used copy like yours in the $375-475 range. That's what other copies have recently sold for on the marketplace.

I look forward to picking up some nice bargains when FF appears, as all the loonies will be dumping perfectly good APS-C lenses at rock bottom prices.

Also, the K-3 should drop in price. Yeah, I know everyone buying the FF won't be dumping their K-3 bodies, but enough will. Currently, the new body is going for as low as $619.99 with free shipping on sleezeBay (some outfit in Canada). Assuming the price drops a few bucks every month (it always does), used copies should go for only $500 or less once the FF comes out.

Back to the thread title...just check out the sold items here and on eBay to get an idea what the equipment is currently worth. Another option is to look on the sites of trusted retailers ( KEH, B&H, Adorama or wherever) and see how the used equipment is priced. I believe it is better to sell your equipment here first, saving you fees and insuring the buyers know what they are buying (less chance of a return).

That is true. The used market has been weird lately - it can only get worse for awhile.

If it's not worth that much then I am probably better keeping it for my k5 and utilizing it in the FF once and a while

Don't forget the crop lenses will almost certainly work just fine with FF. Depending on how the crop function is implemented you may find that they are even nicer with FF. I plan on getting the Pentax FF but I have been working with the Sony A7ii and now A7Rii since last December. With the big sensor on the A7Rii e-mount crop lenses perform very well and even seem to produce better IQ than on the A6000. Hopefully we will see something similar with the Pentax FF so that we can continue to use our existing DA and DA* lenses for some time. IF this is correct the transition to FF lenses can be slow and less painful. And don't forget many DA and almost all DA* lenses (not the DA*16-50) will cover the FF image circle.

good god, man - don't throw logic into this discussion..... I'm also waiting for the hordes of crop-lenses to be thrown away when the FF is released....

The rumour on the other forum has it that the FF camera will not support screw drive AF lenses.

Oh boy... if that's true then we can expect blood in the streets. That said, I don't believe it's true.

Not possible. If this were true, the selection of usable lenses would be so limited as to make buying the FF body a dumb decision.

Why does everyone hate screw drive? It's perfect for small limited lenses and why would we want to throw that all away?
