I took my latest acquisition, a Pentax-DA* 300mm F4, to a University of Waterloo Women's Rugby game today, along with my K3 and HD Pentax-DA 1.4X teleconverter.

After reading the many excellent reviews of this lens, I had high expectations which were definitely met, both on its own and with the teleconverter.

I thought my DA* 200mm F2.8 was very sharp, but I have to say I think that the DA* 300mm F4 is probably sharper.

Great pics....took my DA*60-250 to a women's rugby tourney last year....great fun to shoot the game. Your photos, though, really get in there to the facial expressions. That extra reach makes a difference I think.

Great shots and good inspiration; I'll have to make this year the year I shoot so shots at our local rugby team. I think the pitch will be more like a ploughed field compared with the Canadian pitches

Even worse, this game was played on artificial turf. Not a single drop of mud to be seen on any of the players !! That's not rugby
