Pentax M50 1.7 Focusing Question

Hi

I just bought my first manual lens v cheap from ebay, an M50 1.7, seems in good condition and so far I love it. However when I use it on my K100Ds I'm getting focused and seeing the green light in viewfinder, but then the green light keeps flicking on/off when its off it won't let me shoot, is there a way to stop this. This even happens on static objects, I think I'm holding the camera still so I don't see why I'm losing the green light?

Heres one of my better attempts so far, taken at f2.8, can't remember the shutter speed, very little PP. I'm very new to manual focus so any critics, suggestions welcome.

The easy solution is just flip your cameras switch onto Manual Focus.

If you are close to your subject .... such as the cat, even assuming the subject doesnt move, the plane of "in focus" is going to be wafer thin. The whole area within the depth of field at say 5 feet at f2.8 is only about 4 inches....the cameras idea of spot on focus will be miniscule. The tiniest sway of your body will put the subject "out of focus" and you will lose the green light. If you are taking close pictures of a static object you should try a tripod to nail the focus. You will have the added benefit of being able to use a smaller aperture if you wish too.

Your shot posted was at 1/10th second for your information.

Nice lens by the way...it was my first ever Pentax lens ....and I bought it new !!
