Why the new lens PENTAX D FA 24-70mm F2.8 is green and no red line?

Why the new lens PENTAX D FA 24-70mm F2.8 is green and not with a red line?

SMC coatings rather than HD? Or maybe because it's a rebadged and slightly uprated Tamron rather than a true Pentax?

<<< I thought that, but I'm not convinced. The new lens is HD and supposedly should be red line. Two colleagues asked me and I have no answer

Perhaps because Pentax has heard our feedback about not liking the red line, and decided to stop using it

The HD DFA150-450 is also WR and has green line ...

---------- Post added 09-26-15 at 06:22 AM ----------

Perhaps the DFA will have green line, the DA red and DFA * gold?

The red HD rings were a silly marketing ploy that made pentax lenses look like canon lenses. So they stopped!
Then the new DFA* 70-200/2.8 has aerobright 2 coating which is essentially HD on SMC so that would be awfully confusing!

Might they be thinking of color-coding FF versus APS-C only? They'd have to issue repair kits to paint over older APS-C only lenses that already have a green stripe. Or maybe they'll issue certificates to have it done by Precision Camera for the cost of shipping.

I think Pentax have abandoned using the red ring to indicate HD coatings. The 70-200 also has HD coatings and a green ring, as do the 18-50 and 150-450. So really it is not so surprising that the 24-70 has a green ring as well.

OTOH green used to indicate "for digital", which used to mean "crop", whereas silver used to mean "for film". So I'm not sure exactly what the green ring means today.

I have joked a few times that maybe Pentax should offer the lenses with different color rings, as they do with some of the camera's body colors (K-50, K-S2).
