I went back some time later to get the 10mm fisheye shot for reference.

The DA10-17 @ 10mm is significantly wider than even the Sigma 8-16 @ 8mm. It is even a little wider when it is de-fished in post-processing.

Slightly deceptive comparisons though, cropping to the middle of the frame. It is the frame corners that get stretched/compressed, being further away from the lens axis.

After a bit more research and your comments I'm leaning towards the Sigma as I think the fisheye is more of a specialized lens for some dramatic shots, but I need more of a "general purpose" wide angle lens for landscapes and streets.
Now, that half step is worth having in your opinion? I shoot with a K30 and a K-01.

Thanx

Of course, but this is about the angle of view.

The article I posted about earlier compares both versions. I can't say as I haven't used either version.

If you decided on the Sigma 10-20 (I did), you have approximately 2.5 hours to buy it for $200 off the regular price at BH Photo.

Something tells me you might have known that already

I'd do it in a pinch if it wasn't that shipping and customs (I'm from Italy) will make it more or less the same price I'd pay for it here...Too bad...

...besides, why third party lenses for the Pentax system always cost more than Nikon or canon...?

The B&H Photo website says the Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 for Pentax is not available and has been discontinued...

They still have the 10-20mm f/3.5 though.

Ah! Yes, that's too bad. $449 was a very good price. But maybe you'll find it there for something equivalent. Good luck!

By the way, the half stop between the old and new 10-20's will come in handy for filtered work. Every little bit helps there. I chose the 10-20 over a used 8-16 for the ability to use filters, though I would have preferred the extra 2mm.
