DA* 4.0 60-250mm zooming trouble

Hello
I bougt this lens some time ago for the purpose of shhoting childrens soccer games.
It's quite new/unused - I guess less than 100 exposures.
I tryed it a a soccer match today:
It nice and quite sharp (I new that allready). AF is not too fast, but still useable for non professional images (pro images would need faster AF, I believe).
I have one problem, though: When zooming the zoom ring is hard to turn in the middle area - arround 135mm.
It's just hard one way in or out, depending on which way the lens is pointed - upwards or downwards.

Is this a common issue with this lens?
Or does mine perhaps need repair or sevice?

Regards
Jens (Denmark)

Possibly due to weather sealing that lens is stiff around the 135 focal length. It typically loosens up with use but you can typically still notice this.

My zoom only feels this way when zooming quickly, when air moving in or out could cause resistance. Zooming slowly it feels very smooth.

Mine too. Been using it for airshow photos and it is still stiff in the middle zoom range.

I think it is supposed to be like that to avoid zoom creep. I have read that question in the forums before.

Thanks UncleVanya, sbc and sergysergy.
I wanted to use it for childrens soccer games. I miss images becaues it's cumbersome to zoom fast.
Other than that it's an excellent lens.
I think I'll bring the 55-300mm next time. This lens is very good despite the low cost.

Try opening a port cover or two on your camera, you will feel air rush in and out and the zoom action should get easier. You may get more dust, but that's not hard to deal with.
