Lens Hood for Pentax DA L 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 AL WR

Does anyone know if the lens hood for the Pentax DA 18-55mm AL II WR fits on the Pentax DA L 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 AL WR (kit version)?

Both are 52mm .. just making sure.

The lens review database says 'non' -- the AL II uses the PH-RBA 52mm, while the AL WR uses the PH-RBC 52mm hood.

The WR 18-55s use the PH-RBC, the non WR 18-55s use the PH-RBA.

You have asked about the Pentax DA 18-55mm AL II WR, but no such lens exists. There are 2 non-WR version plus the DA L, and then the WR versions...DA WR & DA L WR.

You can get a decent cheapie petal hood from amazon. It's bayonet style and reverses for storage on lens. Made by JJC, problem is you'll probably have to wait some time for it to arrive as a lot of stuff by JJC ships from china. It is meant to replace the ph-rbc 52mm that someone mentioned above. It also has the removable tab for allowing more light in. Cost is less than $10.

That "removable tab" is design to allow easy access to a polarizer filter with the hood on. Great feature as I believe only Pentax came up with this innovation.

The DA WR version is optically identical to the DA II non-WR.

Great, except that I removed mine (on the AL WR version) and I cannot figure out at all how to get the little plastic piece to fit back in ! No matter how I try it won't snap in, anyway round! I'm totally stumped .....

I ordered one of these shipped from China, when I didn't know my 18-55 came with the hood. It only took about 9 days to arrive via mail.

So we have DA 18-55 AL, DA 18-55 AL II, DA 18-55 AL WR, DA L 18-55 AL, and DA L 18-55 AL WR.

Five lenses and 2 optical formulas...though only the first is any different...

My PH-RBA came from China, my PH-RBC came from Brooklyn...I paid $17.50 for the RBC after shipping.

That doesn't change the fact that the DA L is labeled as an AL lens. DA L 18-55 F3.5-5.6 AL. Re-read my post...there are 5 versions of the lens, 1 has a different optical formula, 2 are DA L with plastic mounts, no quick shift, no distance scale, and no hood included. The inclusion of AL is really meaningless, they all have an Aspheric Lens element.
