I have an F*300 and judging from the heft, feel and sound, I don't believe it is a plastic body. Ditto for the FA*'s. Other than that comment and Mike's comment on the M42 lenses, a nice summary. Dave

You can't go wrong with any of the Pentax Prime's, they are some of the best lenses ever made by anyone. The new DA lenses are mostly made for your K20D.
Welcome to your second home.

The designations are kind of confusing. I think the straight F's are plastic but the F* (since they are a *) are not. Since I don't own an F I am going by other sources for this, so please correct me.

Thanks Ed. Good to see another "ham" on the forum too. Seems that a lot of hams share a common interest in photography and astronomy from what I've seen over the years.

Welcome to the forum, Brian. Where in Arkansas are you located? There are 3 of us on the forum located in NW Arkansas. I don't have the K20, but a K100 and have both of those kit lenses and have not had any issue with them. I've read on this forum that the K20 is a bit too much camera for some lenses, this may be the case here. I'm sure someone will chime in and help you out.
Nick
Hi Nick, you are quite right. I have a couple of lenses, which worked nicely on the istDS and even on the K10, but can't be used on the K20 anymore. Somehow the sensor of the K20 requires resolutionsy beyond the lens' capabilities. This is true for my Sigma 2.8-4/24-135mm zoom, which is simply rubbish on the K20, whereas it was quite usefull with 6 MP and 10 MP cameras at f8. Also my beloved Pentax 4.5/500 is very good on the K10, but really goes down in resolution and contrast on the K20. Lucky, that I kept my K10, even if it were only for that one lens....
