Brand new DA* 50-135....bad

*cry* It was almost perfect.

Today I got my K20D, 16-45, 50-135 and 55-300 in. Happy day...almost.

I hooked up the 50-135 to my K200D and noticed immediately that the lens wouldn't focus past 75mm or so.

After *FINALLY* charging the battery for the K20D, tried it on that camera with the same results.

Then, I started looking at the "info" when making focal length changes...after about 75mm or so, the "info" simply displays 70mm and stays there.

Bummer

That bites - all I can suggest is make sure all contacts are clean - and hopefully you bought it somewhere with a good return / replace / refund policy.

Yeah, cleaned the contacts, nothing.

And yes, I bought it from frankly the most awesome return place I've ever shopped, Amazon.

Cross-shipping next-day air, prepaid return UPS shipping label. man, you can't get any better than that. My new lens will be here Friday.

Interestingly enough the optics are still nice when I manual focus, but I don't get focus confirmation at the "bad" ranges. I know I'm going to love the lens when I get a good copy, and I think my other lenses will be jealous.

Sorry to hear that. I have had mine for 2 months and it works great with my K20D. I think you will enjoy it when you get the replacement. Good Luck

I have just found this thread, and I am picking up one of these tomorrow, I am going to check the focus beyond 70mm before handing over the money..
