70-200

Where is it? it was announced long ago, postponed until September, promised again and even appeares in the current road map as available.
There are many ways to make customers upset, this is one.
This leans was missing for a long time, only Sigma, Tamron offered this range during APS-C times. I feel like someone wants to push me heavily towards the big three with decent lens line up.

Last time I checked it's expected at the end of February.

it will be out at the same time as the FF, i guess without the FF, 70-200 is a little too long ^^

Silly question

Where is the 2.8/70-200 8 months after release? No comment from Pentax for months, the lens is still listed as released. People are raving about K1 and the 24-70 mm lens, but how trustworthy is Pentax/Ricoh these days? This is not even the first Pentax release of a similar lens. Without this lens the current APS-C line up in advent of a FF cameras is completely pointless. Nobody will want to buy into a 50-135 mm anymore or a 200 mm designed for APS-C. Should I get a Tamron 70-200 or look for a camera manufacterer that can deliver.
How long will it take Pentax to present and deliver a decent set of fullframe lenses - how many years after presentation? It is not fun to wait for essential lenses without any notice on release dates. It even became a rumor that the lens has not yet been released although it was released.... amateurs!

pentax was selling ff glass back when christ was a corporal, and dirt was young.

i don't think that there has ever been a time when pentax wasn't selling ff glass.

heck, my neighbor was shooting pentax ff glass in vietnam, in the '60's.

You are quite right, their recent track record is worrying.
They are consistently struggling to get new products out and failing to meet previously announced deadlines. I hope they get their internal processes sorted out.

Zapp let's be clear there. If you are disatisfied with Pentax don't trust them whatever then just go. Really.

That's not like a guy from PentaxForum will be mandated to kill you or that there some law that prevent you to buy Canon, Nikon or Sony instead.

Really do what you want, that the best way to be happy.

Now let's imagine that you like Pentax. let's imagine you want the FF and let's imagine you would be interrested in the gear. You could just wait for the body to be released, the 70-200 will be available by then as well as the 24-70 and the 150-450 that are already available. plus the kit lens on the road map, likely a 28-105 3.5-5.6.

And also FA31, FA35, FA43, FA50, DFA50, FA77, DFA100 that are FF primes... And lenses like DA*55, DA*200, DA*300, the teleconverter and many others that would work just fine.

Not counting of course Sigma 20, 24, 28, 30, 35, 50, 85, 105, 24-70 or 70-300

Not counting Samyang 12, 14, 24, 35, 50, 85, 100, 135

Or tamron 28-75, 90 macro, 70-200 or 70-300

I forgot many of course but to have all of this even before the camera is out isn't that bad.

And yes you'll not have an echosystem as wide as there for Canon and Nikon with all their lenses and all third parties. It will take years and may never happen.

No happy ? Again nobody force you.

Yep. Silly question.

You either want what Pentax is offering or you don't. If you can't wait for Ricoh to deliver it, you can get it all from Nikon or Canon right now.

I'm not a FF fan actually. But my guess is he has never seen a portrait done with fa31 or fa77. If he did he would have a lot more patience.

These are the kind of threads we get when people don't pay attention.

The issue raised by the OP was addressed elsewhere.

Very silly question. No 70-200/2.8 was released 8 months ago. There are not thousands of lenses lost in a custom's warehouse somewhere. IIRC, A prototype was displayed and such a lens was announced for future release, but that was all. Since that time, the actual release has been pushed back a couple of times.

So the next silly question...why the concern? Do you have $1500 USD (minimum) burning a hole in your pocket? (Assuming of course, that this lens is actually on your "must buy" list, even in advance of reviews and field tests.) To take it further, do you have the $2500 (minimum) for the new FF with kit zoom (happily, the D FA 24-70 is already in the stores)? If the answer to either is NO, then your angst is fake and you are trolling. If the answer is yes, you have other market options that may be exercised with little risk.

FWIW: I recently bought a vintage Tamron 70-210/3.5 zoom for use on my film systems. Cost was about $90 USD and I figure it will do nicely when I eventually buy the FF digital body and until I muster funds for an upgrade. If you MUST have a FF lens AF lens in that zoom range and have it today, I recommend getting the FA* 80-200/2.8. I am sure there are a few available on eBay or elsewhere for a little less than the new lens. A used Sigma 70-200/2.8 or a new Tamron 70-200/2.8 would also do.

What is more, the OP raised the same issue a little over a month ago. Perhaps the mods could merge the threads?
