Very silly question. No 70-200/2.8 was released 8 months ago. There are not thousands of lenses lost in a custom's warehouse somewhere. IIRC, A prototype was displayed and such a lens was announced for future release, but that was all. Since that time, the actual release has been pushed back a couple of times.
So the next silly question...why the concern? Do you have $1500 USD (minimum) burning a hole in your pocket? (Assuming of course, that this lens is actually on your "must buy" list, even in advance of reviews and field tests.) To take it further, do you have the $2500 (minimum) for the new FF with kit zoom (happily, the D FA 24-70 is already in the stores)? If the answer to either is NO, then your angst is fake and you are trolling. If the answer is yes, you have other market options that may be exercised with little risk.
FWIW: I recently bought a vintage Tamron 70-210/3.5 zoom for use on my film systems. Cost was about $90 USD and I figure it will do nicely when I eventually buy the FF digital body and until I muster funds for an upgrade. If you MUST have a FF lens AF lens in that zoom range and have it today, I recommend getting the FA* 80-200/2.8. I am sure there are a few available on eBay or elsewhere for a little less than the new lens. A used Sigma 70-200/2.8 or a new Tamron 70-200/2.8 would also do.
