Got the DA 40 2.8 HD a few weeks ago and the 21 3.2 today. Playing with street photography in NYC. These limiteds are really addicting. Looking forward to primes only (or mainly) this thanksgiving weekend.
Congratulations - both superb lenses. Now you just need the DA70 and you're set

You traitor!!

Or was it to stop her from asking for a K-Q adapter and then coming after your glass?

And don't forget the 15mm 4.0 as well! This is most tempting to me (at the moment....)

If I were going to buy one of the two and IF money were no object, I would buy the 77 over the 70, because the official forum test found very little to choose between them and it'd be compatible with ALL my K-mount bodies, film and digital, into the foreseeable future. However, I appreciate that for many, this state of affairs isn't the case. When money considerations rule, it's bang-for-the-buck.
And then Black Friday happened and the 15mm ruled my mind (holidays to scenic places are in the works) and money was an object. The 70 was a steal at the B&H price, and a new 77 was that much more that even for an extra stop of light and cross platform capability I couldn't justify it.

Now I will (after December 25th) have that 15/40/70 kit I was theorising about. I did seriously consider the 21, but I already have plenty of lenses which cover that FL and I didn't think the 15 and 21 were far enough apart to justify owning both. Yet.

I own that kit myself and love it. The FA 31 and FA 77 were recently added.

There quite a difference indeed between 15 and 21... and sure a bigger gap between 15 and 40 than between 40 and 70

I have an FA28 to narrow the chasm, but the advice is appreciated.

I love my 21 and rarely wish to go wider...but I'm sure the 15 will find its way into my bag! But the 40 Ltd is cheap and the 35 and 100 Macros are more appealing to me. Decisions, decisions...

I picked up a used 21 today on Keh. Never had a limited before. I have the 40xs and the 35f2.4 so I was looking for something in a different focal length. The 15 is really difficult to find used. I wanted the smc version for the starburst effect. On a 21mm lens I don't really care about bokeh. Looking back at my 16-50 shots alot of them seem to fall in the 20mm range. Using my DA 35 at times it seems a bit narrow.

I like the DA15 a lot, but to me the 21 is much more versatile... congrats on picking one up As kh1234567890 says, the bokeh isn't bad by any means. In fact, the quality of the bokeh is really quite good - you just need a bit of distance between your subject and the background...

Three amigos

I saved and budget stretched for several years to get 31-43-77 limited. The sacrifice was/is worthwhile, especially for the 77, even though this is a lesser used FL. My wife loves this lens and calls it the magic lens, as in "We are going out for photos, I'll take the magic lens." The 31 has the characteristic that anything you point it at looks better than with any other lens of that FL. It serves as the usual extension of the K-3. The 41 is in between, not in quality, but in FL and at 41 mm competes with a collection of several stellar 50 mm lens such as the D FA 50 macro, Revuenon 1.4, and Canon FD and FL 55 mm f 1.2. I like the 43 almost every time I use it and have had some excellent results, but have not explored its possibilities to the extent I have used the 31-77. Using all three of these wonderful lenses, however, is a marvellous photographic adventure.

Looks great to me. I primarily shoot landscapes, cityscapes, and night scenes. That is why bokeh was not too important to me. I have thought about trying some street scenes with a few friends of mine, hence the 21. I can't wait to try some night shots with it.

From experience DA21 bokeh is ok and its close focussing capabilities are nice, adding a lot to the versatility. But this isn't going to be say a 35ltd for proxy photos or DA50 for bokeh. That('s just quite nice to have a bit of everything with just that lens on body you can go quite far.
