Would a longer focal length exhibit more vingnetting?

Let me set the parameters: take an 18-200mm zoom with 62mm filter thread, compare that to an 18-270mm with the same 62mm filter thread. Would the longer focal length make a difference in vignetting? I like to stack filters, so would the longer 18-270mm lens exhibit more of a chance of vignetting than the 18-200mm zoom? (given the same set of 62mm filter stack) I ask this because I like to stack filters, and I would loose some of the wide angle, so my 18mm may be a 24mm usage(to eliminate the vignetting). I know you can get step rings, but I'm really interested in the comparison effects. I'm OK with the 18-200 and was thinking of the 270mm or 300mm range for the future. thanks

I don't really know, but usually vignetting will occur on wider angles before longer lengths.

A good starting point might be to look at the analysis for each lens on some of the lens review websites (photozone, lenstip, dxomark etc.) to see where the vignetting occurs, and how it compares between the two you mention. Like the previous poster, I suspect the vignetting is worst at the wider angle settings (although this is by now means a given with super-zooms). If you're stacking filters, it may be an idea to go for larger filters and an adapter ring to reduce the possibility of vignetting caused by the filter rings.
