Tamron 70-200mm availability

I'm not sure whether anyone else has come across this, but I put an order in for a Tamron 70-200 in mid September, with most vendors quoting a 5-7 day wait for stock. Mid November and there's no sign of stock arriving in the UK. AFAIK all stock in the UK comes through a single importer who has not been able to come up with an explanation
I know there have been rumours about Tamron discontinuing this lens, but nothing official has been announced. Does anyone have an idea what the issue is?

I used Yahoo search to get the Tamron Discontinued Products List: TAMRON | Tamron Discontinued Products List . The Tamron 70-200 mm f2.8 lens for Pentax is not listed as being discontinued. It is still available at B and H but it is getting harder to find.

Yes, it's getting scarce as I believe Tamron have officially discontinued it even if B&H stock availability listings don't say that.

I tried to find officially imported stock in Australia mid-year and there was nothing about. A couple of shops I went into rang the distributor who confirmed they had no stock.

The Tamron 70-200mmF2.8 is officially discontinued in Pentax mount. Tamron aren't making any more. So only shop stock would be available until all sold.

Only 70-200F2.8 available for Pentax will be the Pentax version due for release early next year.

I'm curious to know the source of this information. I may have overlooked something, but the UK importers are either unaware of this (I asked), or they're hiding something.

From the Australian importer of Tamron lenses. Maxwell International. After trying to get one a few months ago. I was told that the SP AF70-200mm F/2.8 Di LD [IF] MACRO has been discontinued in Pentax mount due to lack of sales, and was unavailable.

The only way to get one was to find a shop with some still in stock, as no new stock of the SP AF70-200mm F/2.8 Di LD [IF] MACRO in Pentax mount was available from Tamron Japan. Plus that model had now been replaced by the SP 70-200mm F/2.8 Di VC USD, only available in Canon, Nikon and Sony mount.

After a week of searching, I could not find any stock of the SP AF70-200mm F/2.8 Di LD [IF] MACRO in Pentax mount available in Australia. B and H photography was the only shop I found with any available.

It would amaze me if this lens gets restocked. It seems quite apparent that Pentax has entered into a marketing arrangement with Tamron similar to what apparently took place with Tokina. The most likely scenario is that all Tamron K-mount lenses will be discontinued. At a minimum, it seems likely that any lens similar to a current Pentax offering will not be produced by Tamron going forward.

The situation puts Sigma in the spotlight as the only practical alternative when it comes to new AF stock going forward. It'll be interesting to see whether or not Samyang is headed toward AF lens production.

I'm pretty sure Tamron is down to the 17-50 and 90mm macro in K-mount besides what Ricoh is rebadging.

I heard from Adorama that they will have the lens available "some time in December". Demand may have been low and store stock was slowly being consumed. Then FF came about and the stock was consumed quickly. Now Tamron may need to tool up and do another production run of this lens.

Update:

I received my lens last week, just at the point when I felt that all the second hand examples had disappeared too.
