I respectfully disagree. Yes, shooting a fast lens in low light to gain shutter speed or for shallow depth-of-field are all good reasons to have f/1.8. But in the particular shot you posted, you wanted great depth-of-field but because of the hyperfocal distance, didn't need a small aperture that would have caused diffraction and a loss of the sharpness and detail. Whether you did it intentionally or not, I think shooting at ISO 200, at 1/320" (above 1/250" to eliminate potential internal mirror reflex vibration blur), and f/8 maximized your results from a technical perspective.
And of course the most important thing is that you got away from your computer, picked up the camera, took shots, and shared it. Thank you! If for no other reason than getting a new lens inspired or motivated you to do this, it works
