Re-aquaintance with the DA 18-55 WR

My son shot through to New Zealand for a holiday with my K5 and 18-135. I'm on the way to India and China for 3 weeks now, with my K3+DA15+DA40+DA70+SMC DA55-300, but thought I might need a short WR zoom. Normally I'd take the 18-135, but in its absence, I've dusted off the old DA 18-55 WR. I haven't used it for about 3 years. I know it's not a great lens, but looking back, I have some pretty decent shots taken with it. So here's an opportunity to re-assess it. I'm anticipating using it for street scenes in Bangalore and Mumbai.

Good for you, I hope you enjoy the trip and I am looking forward to some photos from that great little lens.

Have a great trip, Paul. I sold both my 18-55 WR and 50-200 WR a while back, but sometimes wish I'd kept the 18-55. It needs stopping down and, hence, lots of light... but definitely capable of some great results.

It's a pretty decent lens. It will serve you well.

I used my 18-55 WR on a recent vacation in Oregon and found it to be quite acceptable. I was very pleased with my results.

I just bought one together with a 50 200wr to add to my non wr primes...

I didn't want to cash out on the more expensive options for the few times i need wr.
And i know the kitlens can serve you well.

Looking forward to your 're-assesment'

Since you are going to Bangalore, if you have time check out Mysore too - it is only a short hop away. There's some stunning old palaces and landscapes there, more than in Bangalore actually. And you'd give those 15mm and 40mm a good workout.
