Vivitar 28mm f.2.8 RL in PK-A

I picked up an auction the other day and in it was this little Vivitar RL Edition in PK-A mount. There's no much in the way of verifiable information on the Internet about RL Edition lenses. Does anyone have any experience with them and if they're good performers?

This copy, I just discovered while writing this, has a weird aperture issue, so I'm trying to decide if I fix it or flip it for parts. The aperture doesn't close down beyond f/11, even though it's marked to f/16. And the blades don't return to fully open after an image is taken when it's in "A" mode. The blades are clean and react quickly, but something is off. So something is going on but I'm not sure if it's a lens I want to invest time in repairing.

AFAIK, "RL Edition" Vivitar lenses, like the "RMS Edition" Vivitar lenses, are optically and mechanically identical to their "regular edition" siblings - just slightly different cosmetically.
