K 85 f1.8

I must say as one of my most expensive and nicest lenses it is my most unused. So for the next week of shooting I challenged myself to utilize only My K 85 f1.8 for creative work (Not ebay and craigslist and such) and would have to learn the focal length and learn the F-stops. First round of shots only gave me this one so far. Soon I shall adventure with it at night to see how it holds up. Should be fun!

I used this lens from "82-"00 then again in Oct "11(I took a 12-year break from photography)with my LX and FC-1/FB-1.

I always told myself that I wouldn't sell it unless I found an FA85/1.4...which I did last year.

Ah, the K 85/1.8 -- what a sweet lens -- one of only a handful of lenses I've sold (quite a few years ago) that I really, really regret.

The K 85/1.8 -- "A-wunnerfull, a-wunnerfull...", as Lawrence Welk would have said...

Yep the K85/1.8 is a great lens and I like it much better than my FA77/1.8.

I'm definitely enjoying it so far. It's much different from my regular shooting. I mainly use a fifty prime for just about anything. So the extra 35mm is weird and the lose from f1.4 to f1.8 is weird but it's still really cool

I had one of these in my hand and on my camera once and wasn't willing to shell out the $300 or so to go home with it. Have been generally kicking myself over that since.

You shut your mouth!

I'm actually glad that i didn't buy it for the asking price, but wish that I owned it.I have a Tokina 90/2.5 now which mostly serves that same purpose and others.

But, it was a nice lens. I really enjoy the quality of K series primes.

HAHA . Yeah one day I hope to find another one, obviously in another flea market zone but thats for another day. K Series stuff tends to give me some of my better images, the K55 being my favorite. But M42 lenses lately have been my gateway into good stuff. The Tokina must be nice, I was looking to pick one of those up but haven't located one at a yard sale.

I had a deep and profound relationship with a K55/1.8 for a few years, but ended up with a K50/1.4 and in the end, had to admit that they were too similar to keep both. I did an exhaustive shootout that you can find here somewhere and they're both excellent, but I let the 55 go in favor of the extra aperture blades and 2/3 stop of light.Great lenses. I recall the K85 feeling exactly the same, but with a longer focal length and I think it might have been sharper.

No complaints on the Tokina and it is more versatile, though a full stop slower.

From my experience the K 50 1.4 is the best of the K mount 1.4's with the best 1.4 being the Super Tak. But the K55 still gives my Tak a run for its money. And the 85 well thats just the king on the pile currently..... Until I finally move into Auto Tak territory haha
