K500/4.5 anyone?

I'm finding a few posts here and there about the K500/4.5 manual focus monster-lens, but not much. I'm interested to know if anyone presently has one with some sample photos they might want to share? I've read the reviews and am thoroughly intrigued. I'm particularly interested to know how well the CA cleans up in current versions of Lightroom, as that seems to be the biggest complaint I've seen so far. Also, as a general question, do AA-filterless sensors suffer from CA as much as those with an AA-filter? Thanks!

No, they suffer from it just like every other camera does.

One downside of the old 500 f4.5, aside from not having any ED glass, is that the minimum focusing distance is way too long for capturing small birds. So for such a subject you really must add extension tubes.

The M42's were AP standard issue until the late 60's, then many of them were hacked to Nikon bayonet in-house, so the mount tubes are worthless to us. I know people who have a K500 and a K1000 but only 1 mount tube. Many have seen hard use. Good luck finding parts.

Aside from those drawbacks and CA I had fun with mine until I decided long is a specific skill set that I don't have.

The K 500/4.5 is a surprisingly good lens even on current DSLR's, images often need cleaning up (CA) but that is achievable - the biggest drawbacks are in actual use - its size, weight and minimum focus. I've finally thrown in the towel with mine, replacing it with the slower (but hand holdable) A 400mm/5.6. It'll go up for sale after I finished a few Astro experiments over the next few weeks

Yeah it's 10 meters for the K500/4.5 minimum focus, but the K1000/8 is 30 meters! I pretty well only use my 1000mm for shooting boats/people on the water that are farther away.
