FA 35mm F2. Fast, small and full frame compatible and at a good price.

I have to admit I see little point of it on a full frame camera. Having F2 is most useful in APS-C format.

f/2 was quite useful on FF film cameras such as the MZ-S when the FA35/2 was first released.

It becomes a wonderful FoV on FF, like a DA21 on APS-C.

Great for streetscapes, landscapes, interiors, environmental portraits, etc.

Neither my Sigma 35mm f1.4 or DA35 have aperture rings. I've ordered the FA35 because I'm tired of how slow it is to work out the aperture on the Novoflex adapter for my A7 when I take shots (have to wait and carefully observe the stops on the EVF's exposure meter move as the dial is rotated slowly).

I've only owned the FA 31 and the DA 35 2.4 plastic fantastic. I wish I had the opportunity to try some of the other 30ish lenses to offer better insight. But of the 20 or so lenses I have bought and sold, the FA 31 is the one lens I could keep on my K-3 and never take off. I gave the DA 35 2.4 to my brother. Although a nice lens at a great price, it's just too flat, clinical and boring compared to the FA 31. There's a reason the FA 31 is $800 more

can't take part, as i do not own any of the lenses offered in this poll.

I am satisfied with the smc-a 2.8/28 (could be the smc-a 2/28, i am looking for a cheap offer for quite a while, but these are quite rare).
I do have a range of 35mm lenses, but most of them suffer from a slow closing aperture. Some day i will try to repair them.

And recently i am starting to like the very old meyer-görlitz lydith (pentacon) 3.5/30mm. It is m42, but with aperture pre-set easy enough to handle.
Missing mc, but very good center sharpness.
mc = ????

Short for multi-coat. Most of those old East German lenses had a single coat. The Meyer-Optik Gorlitz Oreston 50/1.8 had a single coat and performed very nicely. It also came on Pentacon m42 cameras.

Until I can get an FA31 Limited, my Sigma Mini-Wide II 28/2.8 will do nicely.

Since you limited the poll to AF lenses I made my choices accordingly, but I own 2 manual lenses and FA35/2 that push the FA31 for my favorite - K28/2 and K30/2.8 There are three more right behind - K35/3.5, K28/3.5, K35/2.

No love for the Samyang 35mm and its various rebrands?

Perfectly usable wide open, sharp enough to cut steel, and it costs a fraction of most of what the other 35's cost. I passed up the Pentax Limited when I realized the Sammy was on sale and I don't regret it at all.

FA31 for life! But the FA35 is no slouch either - the size for the speed is pretty darn nice.

For a fast normal on aps-c the sigma 30 ex is actually really nice. I just traded mine off, but had a hard time deciding between it and the 31. The 31 had much better colors and sharpness in the edges, and in the end won out because I really want to try it on FF and well, it's the 31.

30 1.4 and 35 2.0. Most times for me good enough is good enough, and I can have both of those for the price of either the 35 1.4 or the 31 1.8 with some breathing room.

In fact, for the price of the 35 1.4 and 31 1.8 combined, I could have every other lens on the list, and then some!

Yep. But you wouldn't have the 35/1.4 or 31/1.8.

I once owned the DA35 plastic fantastic, and while it was a very nice lens, it just didn't click with me. The M28/3.5 is my personal fave in this range in my collection.
