24-70mm DFA - how will it integrate into your lineup?

24-70mm DFA - how will it integrate into your lineup?

Are you planning to get it?

-How will it integrate into you crop sensor lens lineup? (will you sell something to make space... what lenses will you use either side etc..)
or
-How do you envisage it integrating into your potential FF lineup?

I just don't know. The DA*16-50 on a K-3 works pretty well.
Ask again in a couple of months

It won't... at least not at this moment! Too expensive for my budget . I've got the Tammy 17-50 f/2.8, although I think i'd prefer the 24-70 on aps-c range better for events...

I consider buying it. However, I'm still unsure whether it will be available as a bundle-version together with the new FF-Pentax which might make it cheaper than buying it separately.

I probably won't get it ever. I had the Tamron 28-75 but was annoyed by having to change lenses for a wider AOV. And I don't have any plans to go fullframe.

The 24-70 DFA came along just a tad too late for me.
I had already invested in the Sigma 24-70 F2.8 IF EX DG which I am very happy with.

Cheers,
Terry

I'm going to pass on that DFA. I'm not planning to go FF, mostly shoot primes and just picked up a DA 16-85 for knock-about purposes.

I'm not planning to pick it up either. It's an FF lens. The reasons I won't go with the Pentax would be the same reasons I didn't go for a Nikon D810. I need a $10k investment just to be happy. 24-70 doesn't really make sense on APS-c.

Unless you want FF, the FL is covered by about a bazillion lenses already, including some great 17-70s that are a lot more flexible.

I never paid more than approx. 1200 USD for a single lens and I'm not going to pay more than 1500 USD for 24-70. Anyway I have both 16-50 and 28-70, so as long as they're both working fine and there's no FF camera available, I see no point in such investment.

For what it's worth, I do own it and it's a nice piece of glass. It is expensive and it is big, but I've been pretty pleased with it so far.

I already have 17-50 on APS-C, and a Tamron 28-75 on FF.

This is obviously a much classier lens, and will make the people who can afford it very happy.

My problem is if I purchase a zoom in the 24-70 range, then I'm letting my FA 31, and FA 43 sit on the shelf. I can't justify letting $1,500 worth of lenses sit around doing nothing. I guess if you purchase it as a "vacation" lens then maybe I could see it but I think I would prefer the DA 16-85 for that.

Yep. Even if I do get the FF (+/- the 24-70) I will be keeping my K-3 for the foreseeable future.

+1. I was on vacation a few months ago and was very pleased with my K3/16-85mm combo. Don't think I'll be picking up a 24-70mm anytime soon but likely will go full frame at some point in the next few years.
