SMC Pentax F 35-80 f/4-5.6 (simple star shape):

Samyang 10mm f/2.8 (stopped down):

Moonlight on frozen lake

Sunlight through trees on snow covered lake

Sorry, I don't do starbursts often, and it's usually just a random part of the composition to avoid blowing stuff out.

Any of the older style lenses with straight sided aperture blades do a good job, IME the FA24, FA20-35 and FA43 have been very good at this, and a highly desireable traight in a landscape lens (more so than smooth bokeh from curved blades).
I know this is old, but after a slurry of rabbit trails throug the forums, I happened upon your photo of the bridge and buildngs. It really stood out to me. Best shot I've seen today. Well done.

What about the D-FA 70-200?

I had the opportunity to capture a scene that I'd also captured with the smc DA 15mm LTD (on the K5) found in post #21 to this thread. This meant I could compare the star bursts it created to the D-FA* 70-200mm (at 70mm on the K-1).

It was a hurried shot that I overexposed but thought the comparison was worth sharing.

FA 43 has an interesting starburst also, although not so well defined.

Thanks, I'm still searching for a compromise for a FF wide angle, something with straight blades like the FA43, the only real option seems to be anoter FA*24....

FA*24 on the K-3II

Oh Nice, how's the flare on the FA* 24? Especially compared to the SMC Da 15?

I know this is an old post but I couldn't resist to add FA50 macro to this post. This post show up during my search for Wide-angle lens with equally beautiful starburst as the DA15. DA21 and Samyang 10mm would be next on my list.

Below images are starburst produced by FA 50 macro. they are big bold and radical starburst!
