Depends on if you're talking film or digital.
I answered 50mm and 35mm only because those were the closest to what I actually shoot.
Overall, I prefer primes.
On digital, I prefer 28mm (42mm equivalent) and 50-55mm (75mm equivalent) and 100mm (150mm equivalent).
On film it's about the same, I prefer 40-43mm, 77mm, and 135mm.
That said, I have a LOT of various focal lengths that I shoot often, even zooms now and then.

I totally did not comprehend your qualifiers in your post, which I didn't see until after I had answered the poll.
I use 35mm as "normal" for APSc format. I use 50mm as "normal" for 135 format. I use 75mm as normal for 645. I use 90mm as normal in 6x7. I use 100mm as normal in 6x9. If I'm going to vary from normal, I tend to go wide. I hope you can apply this data to whatever it was you were trying to explain in your post.

You know, I actually had to get out my kit lens to answer this question. Just looking around my computer room, it turned out that the 24mm setting seemed to agree best with how I naturally saw things, so I guess my answer would be "35mm". That also means I have an excuse to keep cursing Pentax's lack of affordable primes between 21 and 35...
The Pentax 18-135, Tamron 17-50 and Sigma 17-50 all excel at 24mm.

It's interesting that this poll came out a couple days after I actually did a polling of my gallery images.

I believe it was ~70 out of my 122 images were shot between 17 and 30mm on aps-c. From waterfalls to sunsets, mountains to coastal, that appears to be my "zone" and probably explains why I have 3 lenses that cover that range.

For reference, of the other 50ish, ~20 were at 300mm (wildlife) and 6 or 7 from 10-15mm.

I was doing this exercise in anticipation of the FF release, to make sure my kit had the most needed focal lengths covered.

Obviously, for the poll I selected 35mm.

For years, I shot mostly with a 28mm for 35mm film. On APS-C my favorite focal length is 21mm. I can shoot with the DA 21 all day. Other primes will end up coming off and being exchanged for something else.

On aps-c, 28mm is the most natural for me. Can't wait to see what the 43 can do on the k-1.
