Filter ring replacement for 50mm 1.7 af

Was wondering whether there was a new source for replacement filter rings for my plastic bodied 50mm. I found a five year old thread with some depressing replies. Am I out of luck? I hate using this lens without protection.

Thanks in advance.

This is going to sound crazy, but...

Get an old filter. Pop out the glass. Glue it to the damaged thread. Done.

There's no source for these parts, though it might be possible for a skilled person to 3d print the entire ring. The other option would be to get a similar lens "for parts", or maybe even permanently affix a filter with adhesive.

Mothballs, it might come to that.

Thanks for the reply Adam, I've been looking on ebay, maybe I'll get lucky.

I have done this with my lens, and it just works fine. (just make sure to cut away excess thread well, so you can glue it well. And use really good glue, otherwise after a few uses it might come off. Mine is sticking now for bout 2 years I think)

Sell it to someone who does not use filters. I don't.

Ditto on the filter ring solution. Easy and effective.

You can use a moldable plastic or rubber product such as sugru to rebuild the missing part of the ring. That's what I did with mine that was in a similar condition - worked pretty well. First I screwed some filter into the remaining ring, then molded the sugru around it, waited a litte bit and then unscrewed the finter and let the sugru harden
