Congratulations on the great lens for a even greater price. I have the 100 WR Macro for sometime now and it feels lightweight and rock sturdy at the same time. A first-party branded 100 2.8 Macro that's weather-sealed for 350 is totally unheard of in the Canon and Nikon world.

WOW! I think I know what lens I want to get next!

Guys.... this beauty is here!

My first impression when I saw it out of the box was its size! I really didn't expect it, one moment I thought I bought something else. My 16-85 isn't big lense imo but in comparison, this thing looks small and compact regardless of its focal length. The build quality is superb! Nice metal body with nice engravings. I love it already!

My first macro shot at home with this lense

The DoF is just crazy! this example was taken on f6.3, handheld, flash, SR on. on f2.8 out of focus areas are completely in blur and the focus area itself is in 1mm I think, veeery narrow. Sharpness? There are no words to describe. Can't wait to take some good pictures outside but the weather is so misarable even for Pentax.

I think I made good move...

For macro, you can push it to f11 and maybe higher to squeeze out a little more DOFif you want it. It's still sharp even with diffraction.

If you have any friends with 100mm macros of other brands, a side by side comparison will add even more to your appreciation of the dfa100mm's svelteness. It's impressively small and light. What Pentax does best I'd say.

Enjoy it!

Thank you Lev!

As you can probably guess from the subjects of my flickr stream, the dfa100mm makes up a good chunk of it.

yes I've noticed

I've also spent pretty long time looking at those recing cars how did you managed to make it, I mean, motion effect on wheels and surface, is this really an effect in post or these cars were in motion?

Nothing fancy in post.

This effect:

is the cars on a record player that's spinning. The cars are held in place with blue tack and pieces of doweling (to the left out of view). Net effect- the cars don't move relative to the camera, the wheels spin and it looks like I'm panning.

Here the car is moving around on the turn table and a flash is fired at the start of the exposure to freeze the motion. The streaking bit is the contribution from the ambient (1/4s exposure). The car is also moving around in reverse.

Similar to above but no ambient. I had a second flash strobing during the exposure.

Such lovely shots! I see that this is a full-frame lens, but it can be used on crop sensor. I have a K-50, can anyone comment on it's use with a APS-C sensor?

I've only used it on an aps-c sensor, and it's excellent. That it will also cover a larger sensor is a bonus if I ever put it on a film camera or can afford a FF digital.
