Year of manufacture

Is it possible to know the year of manufacture of the lens by a serial number or...?
I`m interested in 50-135 / 2.8.

I'm afraid you can't get the exact date, but you can look for trends in the serial number database:
SMC Pentax-DA* 50-135mm F2.8 ED [IF] SDM Serial Numbers - Pentax Serial Number Database - PentaxForums.com

Another good way to tell is to see if the warranty paperwork is labeled "Pentax", "Pentax Ricoh", or "Ricoh Imaging".
