Lack DFA 24-70 reviews

Apart from the users from this forum I am struggling to find some in depth reviews of the new DFA 24-70. Is that because the lens has only been out a short period of time, or that we have to await the FF release to see how it really performs?

I really find the need to see the 24-70 on dxo mark prior to my purchase. It's an expensive lens and i want to be sure prior to my purchase

This New Pentax DFA 24-70 f2.8 thread isn't enough? You're not likely to see DxO or dpreview do something deep and insightful any time soon. They just don't seem to review Pentax gear until Canon, Nikon and Sony have come out with their response. Then they find a way to review the Pentax item as if it is new, but lacking.

It's just part of the game.

Given that it's designed for the full-frame, I doubt we'll see any reviews until that camera is out. Then IMO they will almost certainly be reviewed as a package, possibly with a comparison between FF crop mode and whatever APS-C sensor is closest in pixel density and sensor specifications (probably the K5-IIs, assuming that the FF has a non-AA-filtered sensor and the 36MP guess is correct).

Check out the reviews for the Tamron SP 24-70mm Di VC USD. The Pentax DFA is said to be a port of this lens, perhaps with pentax coatings. It is likely that the Pentax version will be at least as good as the Tamron in Canon, Nikon and Sony mounts. it looks like a very solid performer.

its not cheap to make - from memory 17 elements, 3 are ED glass and 1 anomalous dispersion glass (most likely fluorite glass, which is what canon use in its L series)

I'm also quite confused about the fact that we cannot really find any review of this lens. Yes, the K-1 still hasn't been put on sale, but this fact didn't stop reviewers from testing the FF 150-450 lens...

I'll do an in-depth review for anyone who wants it if you buy me the lens

The 150-450 is a new lens. The 24-70 is just a Tamron.

Sure you say that now, but how de we know you won't just take the lens and have a 24-70 party somewhere, and never tell us a thing?

I'll do an even more in depth review if I can pair it with a K-1 someone else provides

Have you seen several formal reviews of the 150~450 outside this forum? I haven't found many.

Your party is sounding better and better all the time. Keep going like this and I'll be begging for an invitation.

+1. Mechanically and in terms of optical formula it will be identical to the Pentax. There may be some minor differences in flare control, CA colour rendition etc due to different coatings, but distortion, vignetting, resolution, AF motor speed etc should be close enough to identical. Hence tests on other brand FF's should give a decent feel for how the lens will work on PentaxFF.

Advice from people on the forum is usually better than reviews from, "some guy".

The only thing a reviewer could possibly tell you that a forum user might not to be able to is what it's like using say a K-3 and 150-450, compared to a D7300 and Nikon 100-400 or something like that, and for the most part, they don't get into stuff like that.

A lot of reviews are just rehashes of the technical spec sheet the company released.

Just 1 that I can find.

https://www.ephotozine.com/article/pentax-hd-pentax-d-fa-150-450mm-f-4-5-5-6...w-review-27359

He gives it the same grade as the Tamron 150-600...a lens that costs half as much...
