Can anyone tell me if this is a K mount?

All -

I'm definitely a newbie, but I have the lens-shopping bug and have been haunting various auction sites for good deals on both modern and vintage lenses.

I've attached a picture of a lens mount. The lens is a Sigma 170-500mm 1:5-6.3 APO (!) and is available for a really good price.

My question is: is this a K mount? It seems to have an autofocus screw, the shape is right, but I don't see any contact points for metering.

Any help appreciated. Thanks!

Probably Nikon. The alignment spot is in the wrong place in relation to mounting pin hole. There is also a control tab external to the mount which isn't found on K-mount lenses.

I can usually tell the difference, but this one just made me hesitate for some reason. Thanks for the help!

Thanks, so Pentax lenses aren't the only ones that sounds like a traffic jam heard from a distance. Does either Sony or Nikon modern bodies support the screw drive AF?

Looking at that last picture, I can see clearly how the lens I posted is a Nikon. The angle of the original picture made the contact bumps look like reflections to me (or something other than what they are).

Nikon removed the screw drive from the low end bodies starting with the D40, the earlier D50 had a screw drive. The D5xxx series also lacks the screw drive. This was simply done to force those buying low end bodies to buy new lenses. It is the reason I bought a K-x instead of a D5000.

I'm sure Sony left the screw drive in at least some of its DSLR bodies. Maybe even the DSLT bodies.

If you don't mind to use this lens with MF, and if the price is really amazingly low, nikon-pentax adapter may help.
I've never use that, but I used nikon lens on canon with adapter as a manual lens. Then sold my old nikon lenses and bought pentax

Unless the adapter has an aperture ring a 170-500 isn't going to work.

Here's the link. It's seeing a lot of interest early, so I don't think the price is going to stay low, but with a lens of this type, "low" is relative:

shopgoodwill.com - #27813938 - Sigma 170-500mm 1:5-6.3 D Camera Lens - 2/25/2016 5:30:00 PM

I don't have interest if it's not a K mount.

Thanks boriscleto, dcshooter. Soon it looks like we will be the only dinosaur left but with the new K-1 on the horizon, extinction won't be happening anytime soon.
