The 70-200 is quite a bit more expensive than all the other recently announced full frame lenses: the 150-450, 15-30, 24-70. The 70-200 is a DFA* series while the others are DFA (without the *), suggesting that the 70-200 is superior build quality and better performance.
The Pentax 70-200 might be better than the less expensive Canikon models. Or maybe it's what Ricoh thought the market would bear.

Pentax is still reasonable compared to the competition. Compare a Nikon D810 plus 70-200 against the K-1 plus 70-200. Similar cameras and similar lenses.
