Help on SMC FA 28-70mm

Hey there

I am having trouble with this zoom: the power zoom does work but the autofocus doesn't.
I may have mixed up thing with the button and the clutch on the barrel...
Do some of yoy know what the button, the Pz, the AZ and the mode are here for, they must be Af/MF but why it is Pz/Az I can't figure?
Is the an online manual for this lens (Am I actually asking this?)
Anyway thanks for keeping me posted.

right.... of course, I can't even read what's on my own lens!
Thanks for this serious and necessary input, though.
Anyone else?

Is the lens FA*28-70/2.8? If yes, then it does come w/ PZ feature, but it has nothing to do w/ AF. The lens also feature a push-pull focusing switch mechanism, it's the focus ring. Just push the focus ring away from the camera and the "Auto Focus" words shown under the focus ring, then you'd be able to do AF. If you wanna switch to MF, just pull the focus ring towards the camera and hide the "Auto Focus" mark under the focus ring And you don't need to do anything on the camera body to switch between AF and MF, pretty cook, isn't it? All F or FA star lenses have this feature IIRIC.

Good luck.

OMG Frank! That's right! The ring was so hard I thought it was broken or sthg, it simply wouldn't come up! Now it does. I am always cautious when it comes to pushing a bit hard on lens but as the clutch had nothing to do with it I pushed hard.
Thanks you so so so much!

You are very welcome It's a wonderful lens, I'm sure you'd love it.

I myself love it so much, ended up I had to get its big brother too - the FA*80-200/2.8

Cheers and happy shooting.

You omitted the all important * in your lens description. The FA 28-70 f/4 and the FA* 28-70 f/2.8 are two very different lenses. Thought you were referring to the former.

But there is no "Az-Pz" clutch on the FA 28-70/4 ;-)
