Seriously, I don't understand some of the bidding on Ebay. Several times, I've seen things sell for more than the NY online retailers get for them new.

To understand some Ebay bidders think of the must win attitude some folk have out there in the bigger world, something Ebay likes to play on BTW with their you've just been out bid emails. They get it into their heads that they are the dominant member of the species by paying a stupid price in an auction. Of course the rest of us just think they are suckers and losers.
What impressed me immensely was the doubling of an item I was bidding on in the last 30 seconds of the auction, the titanic battle of the bid bots. Anyway a lot of patience gets you the bargains and I'm going to have to start auctioning off all those film bodies that are accumulating here as a result of picking up tasty lenses attached to them. Anyone want a truck load of Spotmatics and Prakticas?

My favorite is getting a CONGRATS on being the successful bidder in a "Buy it Now" bid.

just be strong, work out what you are willing to pay for an item on ebay, and bid that amount as late in the piece as you can - dont mess around with upping your bid. remember you will only pay the minimum bid increment over the next highest bid no matter how much higher your bid is.

this helps protect you from - oh i wanna WIN WIN WIN ppl because they dont have time to bid back over and over and raise the price to something beyond belief, or more regularly beyond brand new retail price. and it means you can be happy with the amount you have paid, or if you lose, happy that you didnt pay more than it was worth to you
