CONFESS! Who snatched up that 500mm Takumar on eBay?

500mm f/4.5 Takumar. $210 Buy-It-Now.

It was just listed yesterday, and last night while I was looking at the listing (but JUST before I was able to pull the trigger, naturally) someone else got it.

You fiend!

Your punishment is to post some pictures here.

I missed that one, but someone screwed me out of a PENTAX ASAHI TAKUMAR 200mm 4 SUPER MULTI COATED M42.. at the last min, they knocked me out. I hate people that bid the last second so you can't raise your bid. I was the only bid since it was posted.

500 mm

If you are still interested in a 500mm lens there is one on sale now for 260 with 3 hrs left in the auction more than the other one but if you want it go for it . Man 10lbs for the lens alone talk about heavy

If you were willing to bid higher, why didn't you do so in the first place? Then you wouldn't have been outbid... sorry I guess this is OT.

Well.... "Buy it Now" is not the same as what you're thinking of... there's no bidding...

Did I miss something here?

Marc

Nope, you got it right. I just wasn't FAST enough. I had only just seen it and finished reading the listing (and, of course, the lens reviews here!), and then it was gone. Before I had enough time to think and act.

(Perhaps that's my problem . . . my insistence on thinking!)

And for the record, I'm not really hoping for advice. Just griping out loud, and hoping the perpetrator will show up here and rub my nose in it with some great shots.

Sorry, I was referring to the 200mm Fl_Gulfer referenced in his post.

FL Gulfer.......I swear it wasn't me that screwed you out of that m42 200mm, but keep after one as they're always out there on ebay and well worth getting. I bought one from a pawn shop for about $60 cdn a year or so ago and I love it. IQ is awesome and images are almost 3-D

Can't go wrong with Taks and Super Taks............god bless backward compatibility!!

eBay that I give out a lot: Place a bid with the absolute highest amount you're willing to spend and make your bid within the last 10 seconds. If someone outbids you, at least you know they beat your high bid. You don't want to sit there saying "I would've gone higher..."
