Thanks for all your valved opinion guys.Yes simon I have read to testing on DP reviews and all is not well as it sounds promising but fails in the area of silent drive(doesnt have) and others issues. But I was looking forward to the beast but will look further a field.

Any spare M42 adapters simon?

I think it was due to it being tested on the Canon ... as it seemed to have issues (no in-body stabilisation). I'll be looking forward to seeing it used on a Pentax and see how it works. I haven't needed to worry about SDM ... I really don't mind the screw drive ... works for me I guess.

The other lens I'd get though if i had the cash is the Sigma 100-300mm f/4 ... so many good reviews .. but it looks to be around the $1000 mark.

If manual focus is not an issue, you might take a look at this:

My own personal view is that 135 is not long enough.

I have tried with my 135 F2.5 and unless you are in front row seats, it is too short.

I tried the 135 because it was small, light and fast. (over my Sigma 70-200F2.8)

For indoor sports you need 2 things, high ISO and an F2.8 maximum apature. The 70-200 is a better choice, and add on a 1.4X TC to get out to 300 This gives you the best of both options, speed when you need iot and length as an option. Although the 100-300 F4 does deserve consideration, the loss of 1 stop is hard to take.
