rparmar,

I wasn't trying to make the claim that the FA 50 is better than the 43 Limited. I was just trying to clarify for Thule that both the 50 and 43 are sharper than the DA 16-45 at 45mm.

Both are good. I have the 43 and chose it for both IQ and build quality. Feel free to go to my pbase page and browse around for some good examples of what the 43 can do: Heather's Photo Galleries at pbase.com.
Here are a couple of examples:

You might want to go check out the pbase database of cameras and lenses for more samples:

Thanks for all for the info. I think I should find a local dealer to test the 50mm f/1,4 with my K10D.

btw: would anybody happen to know any site for Pentax 50mm f/2,8 Macro MTF graph?

All three lenses are simply very different:
4/16-45 is a slow standard zoom
1.9/43 is a high quality medium-fast lens
1.4/50 is the fastest current Pentax lens (nearly one full f-stop faster than the 43mm, but also longer)

So, i would think, they have different applications. If you need a fast lens, the 4/16-45 is the wrong choice, even if it would sport better image quality, then the FA 1.4/50 (which it doesn't)

If you, on the other hand, need a versatile lens and don't want to carry and change a multitude of lenses, the obvious choice will be the zoom.

These applications are the ultimate measures for your decision, not the last possible diffferences in resolution (which by the way are fairly dependend on how the measurements are performed.)

Very good question... I look forward to the answer. I hope you don't take the politicians way out and leave us as confused as before you answered...

Ben, this is so exciting to see that you are still using pentax gear! The fact is that no matter what lenses you use, the finished images are always the superb masterpieces.

It would be great to hear your comments regarding the weaknesses and strength of this lens

I just purchased it this evening from Canada. It will be four or five days before I receive it. I paid 429.00 Canadian Dollars including UPS delivery or about 275 Euros.

Thanks
Ben

Since you have both the 40 and 43 I'm particularly curious to hear your comparison of the two.
