Some pictures shot with my new HD Pentax-D FA* 70-200/2.8 ED DC AW

Enjoy!

Written in German, but you will understand the important facts, see the pictures. I like it a lot!

The lens is really heavy ... but seeing the pictures, can really make me reconsider my initial "No"

Or, for those of us who are "Deutsch-challenged" - Google machine translation

Well, Yes, No, and Yes -- such translations can indeed be weird (but, with judicial reading, can be somewhat useful), your English is actually very good, and, as for "crazy", please see my parenthetical comment on "weird".

I am an English speaker/writer/reader/listener, but I know just enough Deutsch "to be dangerous". However, I can look at the original German, then at the "translation", and then back again, and make sense out of that. Your review was quite interesting (rekindling my simmering LBA), and I thank you for alerting us to it.

I realy like the bokeh on this lens, comparing it with the likes of canon and nikon 70-200 the pentax has a more pleasing and almost buttery feel to it. Remindes me of my Voigtlander 180.

Now the question is, get the Samyang 135/2.0 That has proven to be excellent and be happy with the voigtlander. Or take the dive into 2kg beast of AF lens. First I need to see how it handels the coma and astigmatism.
I think Ill waith and see how well the voigtlander fairs on the K-1

oh wow,
a lens certainly too big for me, though its pictures are superb!
how about a smaller/lighter f4 variant?

The lens is big, but not any bigger than other 70-200mm F/2.8 of this grade. On the K-3 without a grip it doesn't handle well. It will definitely give your wrist a good workout. Sharpness across the zoom range is very good even wide open. So far I like everything about it. The AF speed could be better, but I think its just the K-3. When the K-1 arrives I think it will be a little (or a lot) snappier.

Austro-Diesel (hello neighbor ;-) ... have you used the DA* 60-250, can you compare these two lenses? I think the DA*60-250 is great from 60-200, acceptable until ~220 but not sharp/up to my expectations until 250mm (at least my copy, but the service check told me that this is within tolerances).

Go with the zoom. I use 70-200 on another system, both crop and full frame. I used to be a prime addict but that zoom range I couldn't do without now. It's so useful and versatile.

Must say that D-FA 70-200 is doing the business. Many thanks to the OP.
