With the new DFA 150 - 450; do I really need my DA*300?

Title sort of says it all.

I am quite pleased with my new DFA 150 450 (f4.5-5.6) and haven't used my DA*300 (f4) since.

I need to sell some gear to raise funds for "you know what", and am seriously contemplating letting my super-sharp DA* 300 go. Of course the 300 slightly faster than the DFA; both are FF compliant.

Does anyone think this would be a mistake? If so, why.

Thx.

If you don't mind the added weight of the zoom then selling the DA* to fund a body might make sense

I can't imagine living without my DA*300!
But then again, perhaps that's only because I have yet to handle a DFA 150-450...

I sold my 60-250 and 300 to fund the 150-450. Very happy with that decision. It is larger but iI have also owned the OS Bigma 50-500mm and can say that the 150-450 is closer in IQ to the 300 at 300mm than the Bigma was at 300mm. The 150-450 is also much better at the long end than the Bigma was. Auto focus is better than the 300 too. All good stuff. I have the 55-300mm if I need a lighter solution for a long lens.

I envy your dilemma !!! If you are keeping your K-3 after taking delivery of " you know what," then keeping the DA* 300 for the K-3 body would be my way of keeping both lenses. Good luck with your choice.

I have avoided this dilemma by deciding not to buy the DFA150-450
My "no filter thread above 77mm" rule has its benefits beyond saving space

I have a F*300/4.5 and a DFA 150-450 and have given a nano seconds consideration to the same thing. Possibly if I had a DA300 I would have pondered over it a bit longer (not more then a milli second at most though). My findings were:

1. Mostly use DFA 150-450 now
2. I always want something else .......
3. I like my 300 muchly
4. I could sell 300 and get xxxx
5. I like my 300 muchly
6. maybe I'll regret selling my 300, especially when
a. my new thing is no longer new
b. I am travelling and my 300 could have come with me (convenient, but not dominating)
c. my little 300 is kinda like a 200 2.8 now on my K1..... but I have forsaken it

My conclusion was to.........maybe just delay the gratification a bit longer and save a bit longer for the "new thing" and keep the 300.

Note..... I don't see this as an affordability issue..... as we are talking shuffling hi price luxury goods in relation to time.... mostly.
