This lens is top of my wish list... I was watching a second hand copy on srsmicrosystems.co.uk - and comparing it to the price listing of a new copy on the site.

But then the second hand lens went, and next time I stopped by the lens was not on the product list at all on the site. I checked wex photographic - same story. Now I went to look at the US situation: The lens is still in stock at B&H, but Adorama only carries Nikon, Canon and Sigma fit versions.

Does anyone know what is going on? Did Sigma stop making this lens in Pentax fit? I would HATE for this one to go out of production before I manage to save for one.

Second hand copies in Europe are rare, and having one shipped from the US is unrealistic because of custom fees.

It's one of Sigma's older lenses, and probably sells very few copies in the K-mount. I wouldn't be surprised if it were discontinued sooner or later.

Dont know for sure. But sigma has pretty much discountinued k mount support for new glass so when they replace this lens in theor lineup it will be gone for sure in k mount.

They only produce a couple of batches a year in K-mount. I bought mine a couple of years ago. Had to wait 3 months to get it, but I have been very happy wit it.

The lens is still listed as a Pentax model mount on the Sigma site. The "choice" drop down list still offers "Pentax" as a mount choice, and the "find a dealer" button still reveals listed dealers.

At £3599 it is out of reach though... but I guess it is inspirational. I need to save for it!

Good point with the low production volume. I suppose the various sellers get a copy now and then - and when it sells there is a gap before they get the next one.

Yeah, I am old fashioned about that too. When I have saved for it, I have earned it.

Sad news. Luckily they will stick around on the second hand market for a while - I finally managed to get one from the forum marketplace last month, and so far I am very happy to have it. Definitely a very solid and sharp lens, but it might need focus micro adjustment (which I don't know exactly how to do), and it definitely needs a good tripod solution.

Still listed as special order item on BH. It is interesting to see that Sigma keeps abandoing Pentax K-mount while Pentax want to capitalize on a D-FA 50, 85, the 50 Art is not offered for Pentax, same for most other Art lenses. the 35 Art still is though. Sigma and Pentax communicate in order not to hurt eachother. Pentax users are missing out on Sigma Art lens line, Zeiss lens lines, Tamron lens line, ... did I mention Pentax as well. Another holiday season without a new Pentax lens for FF, not to mention D-FA*.

Beeing listed doen't mean it's available in decent numbers. Some stock copies which didn't get sold yet.

There has been 4x D FA(*) lenses in 2016. And there will at least one (D FA* 50mm 1.4) in 2018, maybe even more (D FA* 85mm 1.4, UWW, Wide large aperture).
So when you're missing new lenses for FF, you already own the current lineup and can't live with 15-200 at 2.8 and 200-560 at 5.6 ?
