Thank you all for your input! I'll try to go for F or FA 28, I think.

But I didn't hear about this one yet:

Sigma also makes a 28mm f/1.8. Fits the bill even better
RBellavance, do you know this lens?

edit: I see, HERE. This is huge lens. A real monster.....

No clue. There was no flash at all. Can you see the fish tank with fish in the full blown version? I set the camera to 1/20s with SR. I did not know it was actually wide open at F2.8. I did not pay attention as the shot has nothing significant. And that is why the lens is underrated. At 28mm, even at F2.8 the DoF is still large as you can see. Very difficult to isolate the subject with a nice bokeh. But as a lens of straight forward party clear shot like this, it is perfect. But I have to say because it is not as fast as 31 Ltd, FA28mm cannot compete with the latter.
The lens is sharp. Period. But sharpness is only part of what we aim. And that is where the 31 Ltd excels.
The ebay price above ends at aroundf $180. Good deal for both sides as I bought that new around US$220 2 yrs ago

I discovered, that 28mm is a perfect focal length for walk around. It is "like a glove" for me.
I have a SMC-M 28/2.8 and now I'd like to upgrade to auto focus.
Is there any prime lens (Pentax or third party), which would be as small and light as M 28/2.8, would have an AF and image quality comparable with my M28/2.8?
M/2.8 is a bit soft at f/2.8, but I'm expecting this would be the case with any other lens.
what can you say about Pentax SMC-F 28/2.8? I read a reviews at this forum, but I'd still like to hear a word from you guys...
Will there be a DA 28mm pancake in the future maybe?

Thanx!
I would just keep the M 28. Set the distance and f/stop to the orange markings at f/8, set the camera to manual focus, and shoot away. No problems. (I had/have the M 28/3.5. It seems my daughter in law has possession of it now).
