As in, "wow, that's fantastic, why didn't I think of that? "

Do I have to explain everything?

Well after thinking about the possibilities of 700mm in gear I already own I just had to try the HD DA 1.4 TC and F1.7 AF adapter stacked on a DA *300 F4. Got home from work, walked out the front door and there is the Mockingbird sitting on the Mailbox, so snap a picture at 714mm.......This is uncropped so I will be playing around with this set up to see if I can dial it in sharper, etc.

Thanks for the heads up as it is certainly not something I would have thought about doing, I mean who uses two TC's........

My suggestion is to try it again with the 1.7x closest to the body and see if the results are better. But before you do verify that the glass in the 1.7x won't contact the 1.4x - I did it and I think it works but then again I was a stupid person and mounted a DA 15 to the silly 1.4x once only without damage but found out later it was possible to damage one or both due to the way the glass protrudes.
It was a very short test, but, with the 1.7 first the lens wouldn't lock focus. I gave up pretty quickly and reversed the order and I was back in business.

It wasn't that it wouldn't lock focus totally, it was that it wouldn't lock focus consistently, I was was missing opportuities because when there was a 6-7 second pose, the camera would not lock focus.

Tested on the DA*200.

How interesting. I wish I still had one to try it but I don't. Sorry I can't contribute more definitively to this conversation. That first shot is a real winner sir. WOW.

Don't forget the original FL. Four on the floor. Well, if you leave you camera bag on the floor, it's four on the floor.
Since the 60-250 theoretically has an infinite number of focal lengths, You have infinity times 4 number of FL settings.
Once had a car with a four on the column. Endless hilarity resulted when someone else tried to drive it.

Quite impressed with your images. I have a Kenko 1.4x PZAF TC. Hadn't thought of slapping it onto a 60-250. Something to try, perhaps, this weekend.

These are great Norm. TFS

I've been looking for a 1.4x or 1.7x to use with my Pentax 50-200 but haven't been able to locate either so far. I really like your results from stacking two TCs together.
Hi Photo Lady....in case you didn't see this hit the marketplace, here's a Tamron 1.4x

The 60-250 is sharp enough it's worth a try. After all, what can you lose?
